The Golden Valley Bank Community Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that supports programs in the areas of financial literacy, the environment, health, human and family services, and best practices for small nonprofit organizations. We serve as a catalyst, and partner in finding innovative and workable solutions for the betterment of the communities we serve. Additionally, we help facilitate funds for many organizations so they can focus on raising money for their cause. Some of these organizations/causes are: Ability First Youth Sports, Brad Carley Fund, Chico Aces Baseball, Chico Military Hero's, End of Frost Season, Laura's Literacy Project, and many other notable organizations our employees’ and/or their children may be a part of. Organizations that we manage are also able to utilize our merchant credit card services at their fundraising events, which enables them to accept credit cards in order to make more ticket sales from their raffles and silent auctions.
Because of your valued support, the Golden Valley Bank Community Foundation has donated over $1 million since 2009 to a variety of non-profit organizations to help support their worthwhile causes.
Strengthening Our Community:
Each year Golden Valley Bank employees raise money for a worthy cause. In 2016, the Torres Community Shelter was chosen, an organization which helps people in the community improve their circumstances by providing overnight shelter, showers and an evening meal. Over $6,600 was raised during the course of the year through bake sales, hosted events and participating in jeans days – all for donations to the Torres Shelter. We also received a push near the end of our campaign from our Bank’s Directors and Advisors that put us over the top! The Golden Valley Bank Community Foundation matched the first $5,000 of our fundraising and at our Holiday Social a check for $11,608.74 was presented to Brad Montgomery, Executive Director of the Torres Community Shelter.
This year (2017), the Butte Humane Society was chosen, an agency working since 1911 to bring humanitarian care to dogs, cats and other animals. With a $5,000 match from the Bank’s Community Foundation, our goal is to write the Shelter a check for over $10,000 as well.
It’s organizations like these and many others that strengthen and bring our community together for the betterment of all.
Improving Our Quality of Life in Our Community:
With Golden Valley Bank Community Foundation’s annual support to the Enloe Foundation – Enloe Partners Program, our commitment to assist Enloe Medical Center in meeting the health care needs of our growing communities. As the leader in health care delivery in our region, Enloe Medical Center’s continued growth and improvement is vital not only to the health of our citizens, but to the economic strength of our region for generations to come. The Enloe Foundation recently reached their goal of $15 million for the Century Project, which encompassed a new patient tower, a new and expanded Emergency Department, a parking structure and a park.
Other organizations that are vital to the quality of life in our community that the Golden Valley Bank Foundation provides annual support includes; Northern California Fertility Foundation, Catalyst Domestic Violence Services, Torres Community Shelter, Habitat For Humanity, and many others.
Investing in the Next Generation:
Good Guy Youth Sports is dedicated to providing support to the Little League and junior golf programs throughout our local communities. Through the resources and support from the Bank’s Foundation, they have been able to raise over half a million dollars from their Annual Charity Golf Tournament that directly supports these programs. Since 1976, it’s been a very successful event with a mission to make youth sports in Chico affordable to all.
We continue to support and invest in the next generation through organizations like Good Guys Youth Sports, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley, Chico Chamber of Commerce, and Chico Community Scholarship Association, to name just a few.
